Behind on ESOS? It's fixable, and acting now caps the cost.
If you have missed a deadline or the Environment Agency has been in touch, the way out of enforcement is to become compliant, quickly and properly. Our registered Lead Assessors take it from wherever you are, audit, report, sign-off and notification, so your exposure stops growing and the matter is closed.

Enforcement is serious, but it is not the end of the road.
ESOS penalties are civil, not criminal, and the obligation can still be met after a deadline has passed. The Environment Agency's aim is compliance, so the organisations that engage and get their audit done are in a very different position from those that keep quiet.
It also has to be done properly: by law an ESOS audit must be carried out and signed off by people competent to do it, a registered Lead Assessor and auditors who understand your operation. A compliant audit done right, first time, is what actually closes the exposure, not a rushed box-tick.
The one thing that makes it worse is waiting, because breach penalties can mount per working day. Tell us where you are →
The Environment Agency has been in touch
You have had a compliance query, an information notice or an enforcement notice about ESOS.
You missed the compliance deadline
Your notification is late, or was never submitted, and the exposure is growing.
Your last notification was thin
A previous submission relied on incomplete data or inadequate records, and may not stand up.
You have only just realised you qualify
ESOS caught your group late, and you need to get compliant before it escalates.
The penalties grow while nothing is done.
The Environment Agency enforces ESOS with civil penalties, and can name non-compliant organisations publicly. Becoming compliant is what caps the figure.
Four steps to close the exposure.
From the first call to the notification receipt, you have one point of contact, a registered Lead Assessor, and a price agreed up front against a scope we map with you.
Rapid scope
A same-week call and desktop review to confirm your obligation, map every site, and set out the fastest compliant route from where you are now.
Fast-tracked audit
We prioritise data collection and site audits, buildings, processes and transport, so the audit moves at the pace enforcement demands.
Lead Assessor sign-off
A registered ESOS Lead Assessor compiles the report and provides the compliant sign-off your director needs to approve.
Notify & liaise
We submit your notification to the Environment Agency and, where useful, correspond with them as your appointed Lead Assessor.
Compliance closed, and a return on the work.
The same audit that gets you compliant also hands you the savings that make it worth doing.
A compliant ESOS report
A full report covering 95%+ of your energy use, built to withstand scrutiny, not just tick a box.
Lead Assessor sign-off

Environment Agency notification
We handle the submission end to end and confirm your compliance is on record.
A hand with the regulator
Where it helps, we correspond with the Environment Agency on the audit as your appointed Lead Assessor.
Your Phase 4 obligations mapped
The follow-up action plan and progress updates that Phase 4 now requires, planned from the same audit.
Savings worth acting on
A ranked, costed register of opportunities, so the work that closed your exposure also pays you back.
The questions we get from organisations under pressure.
The Environment Agency has contacted us about ESOS. What should we do?
Respond promptly and engage, because ignoring a query is what turns it into a penalty. The route out is a compliant audit and notification. We can step in as your registered Lead Assessor, get the audit and report done at pace, submit your notification, and correspond with the Environment Agency on the audit as your appointed assessor.
We missed the compliance deadline. Can we still comply?
Yes. Being late does not remove the obligation, it means the fastest way to limit your exposure is to become compliant now. ESOS penalties for being in breach can accrue per working day, so completing a compliant audit and notifying without further delay is what stops the clock.
How much can we be penalised?
The Environment Agency can impose up to £50,000 for failing to carry out your ESOS assessment, plus up to £500 per working day in breach for up to 80 days, and up to £5,000 for late notification or inadequate record keeping. Non-compliant organisations can also be named publicly. Getting compliant quickly is the single best way to cap all of this.
Will we be named publicly?
The Environment Agency can publish details of organisations that fail to comply. The surest way to reduce that risk is to close the non-compliance quickly with a proper audit and notification, which is exactly what we do.
Can you deal with the Environment Agency for us?
We act as your registered ESOS Lead Assessor and can correspond with the Environment Agency on the technical audit on your behalf. The audit, report, sign-off and notification are ours to handle. We do not give legal advice or opinions on legal questions, so anything of that kind is for your own solicitor.
How fast can you turn an audit around under enforcement?
Faster than a standard timeline, because we prioritise enforcement work. The honest answer depends on your number of sites and how your energy splits across buildings, processes and transport, which is what the rapid scoping call establishes. Tell us your situation and we will give you a realistic timeline and a clear price up front.
We already notified, but we are not confident it was adequate. Can you check?
Yes. If a previous submission leaned on incomplete data or weak records, it can be a liability if the Environment Agency looks closely. We can review what was submitted, tell you plainly whether it holds up, and put right anything that does not.
