ESOS in Wales, done properly and priced fairly.
If your organisation is large enough to fall under ESOS, we run the whole thing for you, audit, report and Lead Assessor sign-off, and hand you a clear list of savings worth acting on, with no jargon and no scramble before the deadline. Registered in Wales? Your regulator is Natural Resources Wales, and we handle that side too.

In Wales, Natural Resources Wales enforces ESOS.
For organisations whose registered office is in Wales, Natural Resources Wales is the body that enforces ESOS. It monitors compliance, including on-site inspections, and can apply civil sanctions where an organisation does not meet its obligations.
Who NRW regulates
Organisations whose registered office is in Wales. If you are part of a group, the group’s registered arrangements decide which UK regulator you deal with, not where each site sits.
What NRW does
NRW monitors compliance with the scheme, including on-site inspections, and can apply civil sanctions such as financial penalties where an organisation fails to comply.
How you notify
Notification is made through the UK-wide “Managing your ESOS” (MESOS) system, which we handle for you; your compliance then sits with NRW as your regulator.
Straight from the source: NRW’s ESOS guidance →
The audit, report and ESOS Lead Assessor sign-off are identical wherever you are registered.
The same obligations, whoever your regulator is.
Wherever your organisation sits, ESOS asks the same of you: the same thresholds, the same 5 December 2027 deadline and the same penalties. We handle the whole thing for you either way.

ESOS in Wales: common questions.
Who regulates ESOS in Wales?
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is the ESOS regulator for organisations whose registered office is in Wales. It monitors compliance, including on-site inspections, and can apply civil penalties. The scheme itself is UK-wide and identical to the rest of the UK; only the enforcing regulator differs.
Is ESOS different in Wales?
No. ESOS is a single UK-wide scheme made under UK regulations, so the qualification thresholds, the phases, the deadlines and the penalties are exactly the same in Wales as in the rest of the UK. The one difference is that NRW, rather than the Environment Agency, is the body that enforces it for Welsh-registered organisations.
Our registered office is in Wales but we have sites across the UK — who is our regulator?
Your regulator is generally determined by where your organisation or group is registered, not where each site is, so a Welsh-registered organisation deals with NRW even when its sites and energy are spread across the UK. We confirm the right regulator for your structure as part of scoping.
How do I know if ESOS applies to us?
ESOS applies to large UK undertakings and their corporate groups: broadly, 250 or more employees, or turnover over £44m and a balance sheet over £38m. If any company in a group qualifies, the whole group is in. The eligibility check on our homepage is the quickest way to find out.
What does it cost?
It depends on your scope: your sites, and how your energy splits across buildings, transport and process. That is what the free scoping call establishes, and we then agree a clear price for the defined work up front, with no open-ended day rates.
Engineers who understand your energy, not just the paperwork.
ESOS.works is the dedicated ESOS consultancy of Engineered Efficiency. We are professionally registered engineers and registered ESOS Lead Assessors, specialists in buildings, transport and industrial process, so your audit is treated as an engineering exercise, not a form to fill in.
Registered engineers, not just assessors
Led and signed off by a professionally registered engineer who is also a registered ESOS Lead Assessor.
Buildings, transport and process
Specialists across all three areas ESOS has to cover, so nothing in your energy use is missed.
Proven at scale
Thousands of energy audits carried out, and hundreds of ESOS participants signed off in earlier phases.
ESOS elsewhere in the UK.
